It wasn’t easy for Claire Huffine to defend her Region I-4A tennis tournament title Thursday afternoon, but it proved well worth it.
Huffine, a senior, entered the tournament at Lubbock’s McLeod Tennis Center as the No. 1 seed in girls singles after going undefeated in Class 4A competition this season. She reached the finals by winning each of her first three matches Wednesday in three sets before meeting Abilene Wylie’s Kaitlyn Hathorn for the region championship.
